Mick McGraa outlines Bootle target ahead of City of Liverpool and Trafford encounters

Bootle celebrate

Bootle manager Mick McGraa has dismissed their home form as he reiterates the motive is to ‘win as many games’ as they can.

The Bucks have lost just once in their last 10 matches with their only loss in that time coming at home to Clitheroe. However, they bounced back with an important 2-0 win away at Kidsgrove Athletic last time out.

Bootle remain in the playoff positions, although their home form has been far from great, they remain one of the in-form teams away from home. But McGraa says they’re no longer dwelling on their Vesty Road results as they look to rack up as many points as they can in the final six matches.

“I think we’ve been relatively good. We didn’t beat Clitheroe but winning one out of 10 is good form, we’re happy where we are,” he told Off The Park. “Every point is hard to come by in this league and if it has to be away form, so be it – we’re not going to dwell on the home form anymore and concentrate on the next points.

“We dug in, played well and it could’ve been even more,” McGraa added on their 2-0 win in Staffordshire thanks to goals from Conor Harwood and Scott Sephton. “It sums up how we play at home, Kidsgrove is a tough place to go, we just take the points and move on.

“(The target is) Try and win as many as we can, get in the playoffs and that’s the aim. It doesn’t matter where we finish, we’ve got games where we’re playing teams at the top and teams at the bottom – I’d say the bottom games are harder. We’ve got a tough run-in but we’re going to try and win every game.”

This weekend Bootle face relegation-threatened Trafford FC at home before locking horns with bitter rivals City of Liverpool at the VanEupen Arena on Monday.

Their clash with the Purps is billed to be a blockbuster as the two playoff hopefuls go head-to-head but their Bank Holiday weekend kicks off against the Greater Manchester club who are just four points clear of the drop.

The former Vauxhall Motors boss continued: “It’s going to be difficult, the teams at the bottom are usually harder, they’ll come and try to contain us. We’ve got to be ready for that, impose ourselves on the game and if we play well, we’ll win the game but it never pans out like that.

“We treat them both the same. You only get the same amount of points for each game, we look to Trafford and hopefully don’t pick up any injuries.

“Then we can go to City of Liverpool full strength, we owe them one after last time. They were miles better than us on Boxing Day and they deserved the win so we have to go do the same to them.
