Ste Daley offers Prescot Cables verdict as Bulls look for response vs Stalybridge Celtic

Prescot Cables manager Ste Daley is looking for a response against Stalybridge Celtic.

Despite squandering the opportunity to secure their playoff spot against Widnes last Friday, the Bulls remain in a strong position. They sit in third going into the final two games of the season but City of Liverpool, Bootle Witton Albion and Widnes are all lurking a matter of points behind.

This season has defied expectations for Daley in his first full season in charge as they have remained in the upper reaches of the table for the majority of the campaign.

But Saturday poses an opportunity for Cables to rectify a ‘rare’ off-day, which they suffered in Halton on Friday, and Daley is looking for the response against James Kinsey’s side.

“It’s a performance that we’re not used to seeing too much, Stalybridge is a massive club and it’s going to be a great game,” said Daley speaking to Off The Park. “It gives us a chance to show our fans that we want to bounce back and continue the good season, it’s an opportunity to secure playoffs so it’s a game that we’re looking forward to.

“We know the fans will come out and support us in numbers, a big club like Stalybridge coming down, lets see if we can show them what they deserve with a good performance. The numbers are increasing game-by-game and playing Marine, our standards are right up there, hopefully when people see what we do, the performances we’re putting in, the numbers will grow.”

Stalybridge have suffered a downturn in form in recent weeks which has seen them topple down the table, winning just two of their last six including back-to-back defeats against Nantwich Town and Chasetown.

Daley added: “There has been a few teams that have put a good run together, Stalybridge are a really good team. They have had inconsistency this season but they’re more than capable, we have to be quick out of the traps and at the races.

“It’s going to be a tough game and they’ll be looking to bounce back from their disappointment last week, it’s going to be a difficult task but one we’re looking forward to. If we get the ball down and stick to what we do well, I believe we can get a good result.

“It’s the same message all the time, the lads have confidence, they know what we’re on the verge of doing. They know they have to give everything – and they will do. We’re looking forward to get out there and get the job done.

“The lads have done unbelievably, as a group and a team we’ve done well but we don’t want to stop there. We’ve got ambitions and targets, game-by-game we’re trying to improve all the time, we’re working hard on the training ground and if we keep striving to move forward, we’ll keep going in the right direction.”
