Ste Daley highlights Prescot Cables surprise after blistering start

Steven Daley after City of Liverpool win

Ste Daley and Prescot Cables are defying expectations as they sit top of the Northern Premier League West.

Daley is into his ninth month in charge of the Bulls, as they’ve enjoyed a rise through the division this season.

Cables boast the joint-best defensive record and the league’s in-form side with 14 points from six games.

Daley admitted that their start has caught him by surprise but believes his side have the quality to maintain their form.

“I wouldn’t say beyond our wildest dreams because we know the quality of players that we’ve got but I’d be lying if we expected to be top of the league,” he told Off The Park.

“The expectations for myself and from the board was to progress on last year, we’ve got a plan to progress as the next season goes on, so to be top at this level after 14 games is really good.

“The lads are full of confidence and going out on the pitch with an expectancy. We’re outworking most teams, when it’s not quite going our way, we’re digging in and getting results. At the minute, the group is all together, we’re looking strong.

“We know what you get with this league, top and bottom there isn’t a massive difference and anyone can beat anyone on their day. It’s about keeping the mentality strong, the lads have that and when we perform, we’re a really good team and if we perform consistently, we’ll pick up good results. Long may that continue.”
