St Johnstone complete deal to sign Warrington Rylands striker Adama Sidibeh

Adama Sidibeh signs for St Johnstone from Warrington Rylands

Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone have signed Adama Sidibeh from Warrington Rylands for an undisclosed fee.

Craig Levein’s side are on the verge of welcoming the explosive and clinical striker after winning the race to sign the 25-year-old – signing a contract until 2026.

Interest in Sidibeh was ignited after his goalscoring exploits during his debut season with Michael Clegg’s Rylands, where he netted 15 goals.

Off The Park first reported interest in the talisman in early January. Rylands rejected three approaches, including an offer from National League side AFC Fylde, after the bids fell well below the Gorsey Lane club’s valuation.

A Scottish club outside the Premiership initially eyed a move for Sidibeh on trial. However, interest from St Johnstone emerged last week as they faced competition from League One side Stevenage for his signing.

The Football League club stepped away from the deal allowing the Saints a clear path to sign the forward.

Sidibeh was in Perth on Wednesday completing relevant medical assessments after a deal was agreed earlier this week. The 25-year-old is set to complete a move to the Scottish Premiership, having only joined Rylands from Cheadle Heath Nomads in the summer.

The attacker joins the list of names to make the jump into professional football from Rylands, following Elliott Nevitt and Callum Dolan, who signed for Tranmere Rovers and Fleetwood Town respectively.

Speaking at the beginning of January, Rylands boss Clegg said: “It’s not a surprise but I’m more surprised that it hasn’t happened to a few more of our lads. [He’s] a lad who is quick and scoring up top is always going to get interest, Adama is no different.

“At this level, if you’re scoring goals and you’re a name no one has heard of, you get interest straight away, you see his pace, work-rate, enthusiasm, his range of goals so he’s got a bit of everything.

“He’s still got loads to learn, he’ll have a good career, wherever that ends for him I don’t know, but we’re happy we’re on the journey with him.”
