Prescot Cables looking for a response against Nantwich Town after ‘two points dropped’

Ste Daley is eyeing a response from Prescot Cables following their draw against Vauxhall Motors.

The recent adverse weather has wreaked havoc on non-league football and has forced a number of postponementts, including Cables’ fixture against Kidsgrove Athletic last weekend.

The Bulls have a game in hand but sit seven points behind league leaders Leek Town. Last time out, John Murphy’s opener was cancelled out by Vauxhall’s Jay Harvey and for Daley, he felt it was two points dropped.

“We were decent first-half against Vauxhall, we could’ve come in at half-time two or three to the good. Fair play to them, they came out and were the better team second-half which was a little bit frustrating, we’ve been very good this season so you will get games where you’re not quite at the standard,” he told Off The Park.

“It was definitely two points dropped although you do have to give credit to Vauxhall, they pushed us hard in the second-half.

Paul Carden’s Nantwich visit the Joseph Russell Stadium on Saturday. The two sides couldn’t be separated as Nathan Koehler equalised after Cables found themselves a goal down inside seven minutes.

Three wins in the last four for the Dabbers have created daylight away from the bottom two. Nantwich are among the top five form teams in the division and Daley is aware of their threat but insists Cables have the quality.

He said: “We’ve trained well, the lads fitness-wise are in a good place, we were carrying injuries – the time off will have helped us. But we are disappointed in the late call off, especially as late as what it was.

“That’s what it is in football, we trained well and looking forward to Saturday, it’ll be a tough game but one we’re looking forward to. Nantwich are a good team and club, Cards (Paul Carden) is a good manager and I feel that they’re a better team than where the league position suggests.

“Nantwich are a good team, you need to be wary of them and show them respect but they’re beatable. We need to do the right things, we’ll go into it with confidence and hopefully take the three points.”
