Mick McGraa eager to overcome Bootle frustration as Bucks brace for Widnes clash

Mick McGraa has detailed the recent Bootle frustration following their string of postponements – but says his side are raring to face Widnes.

The Bucks are looking to reignite their playoff hopes after the recent spate of cancellations.

Michael Ellison takes his in-form Widnes side to the Berry Street Garage Stadium looking to extend their unbeaten run – which moved to six games after Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Nantwich Town.

The visit of the Whites marks the beginning of a hectic Christmas period for Bootle and McGraa, in the early days of his tenure with the Bucks.

“It’s been really frustrating because we have been in good form, apart from the Hednesford game, so we’ve been trying to carry that on,” he told Off The Park.

“We’ve had a friendly in between and good training sessions but you can’t replicate competitive football.

“I think we’ll be raring for it, the lads are itching to play so we’ve got a tough game ahead. You’ve got to match them for workrate, they work hard, they’re well organised and they’re a threat going forward,” McGraa added.

“We’ve got to do what we do well and it’ll be a good game. We’ve got to work harder than them, they work extremely hard and if we get our better players on the ball higher up the pitch, I don’t see it being a problem, we can hurt them and I think we can get three points.

“I love this time of year, I think it’s the best time of the season when you get big crowds and everyone is up for it. It’s the unknown because you don’t know what players will be available for different teams, it’s a good time of year – frustrating for managers – but I’m looking forward to it.”
