Marine returned to winning ways after comfortably dispatching FC United of Manchester. 

A Player of the Match performance from Sol Solomon inspired Neil Young’s side to victory with a brace as Accrington Stanley loanee Joe Hardy headed in on his debut. 

A second-half turnaround from Guiseley at the Marine Travel Arena succumbed the Mariners to a defeat last time out. But they bounced back against Neil Reynolds’ FC United with an emphatic win to keep their playoff hopes alive.  

Solomon got his first of the afternoon after eight minutes with a piece of individual brilliance. He beat two men before smashing home the opener and his 12th league goal of the season. 

FC United offered some resistance as Max Cane raced in behind but fired the wrong side of Bayleigh Passant’s post.

Shortly before the hour mark, Hardy headed in to open his account and double Marine’s score on the afternoon. 

After magnificent work from Charley Doyle to win the ball back, Ben Hodkinson combined with Kyle Hayde who clipped a cross towards the front post for the former Liverpool and Manchester City youngster who made no mistake. 

Solomon, who was a constant threat for Marine, continued his fine first season with the Crosby outfit made it 13 in the Nothern Premier League. He fired in spectacularly from a tight angle after being fed in behind the FC United back line rounding Dan Lavercombe. 

Following a defeat for Gainsborough Trinity, Marine sit three points off the playoffs. Matlock Town slipped to a 2-1 defeat away at Marske United opening up a three-point gap.
