AFC Knowsley manager Chris Jones says he is delighted with their start to life in the Cheshire Premier Division following their promotion from League One.

His side will be looking to call on the experience they gained last season in order to swat away teams vying for top spot after their perfect start.

They continued their perfect start to the season with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Billinge on Tuesday.

With just one goal conceded in their opening four, they have enjoyed their start to life in the Cheshire Football League top flight.

And three consecutive 2-0 wins have saw them move top of the table with Broadheath Central three points behind having won three losing one.

Knowsley moved into the Premier Division after running away with League One, finishing six points clear of Vulcan and they have continued their impressive form into the new season.

“We are all delighted with the start to the season,” Jones said.

“It’s been a quick turn around with last season only finishing seven weeks ago for us we only had time for three pre season games after a short break but that’s probably helped us to hit the ground running and get off to a good start in this division.

“We have had a great start to the season but that’s all it is, every game we have had to fight for 90 minutes to get the win so we are just enjoying being in the Cheshire Premier League and taking it a game at a time.

“Last season we led Division One from the first weekend till the last so the lads do have experience now of every team wanting to beat them and it’s a challenge they are ready for.

“Our squad is mostly made up of lads under 21 that have been playing together for two to three years now so we know what they are capable of and after recruiting well in pre season particularly the experience Sean Coulton has brought to the team I am quietly confident we can compete in this league.”
